Dental Implants

Restorative dentistry

The permanent solution for missing teeth

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They look, feel and function like natural teeth — and with proper care, they can last a lifetime. Unlike bridges or dentures, implants are a standalone solution that does not rely on neighbouring teeth for support.

What is a dental implant?

Replicating what nature intended

A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as an artificial tooth root. Over time the bone integrates with the titanium in a process called osseointegration, creating a strong and stable foundation. A small connector called an abutment is then placed on top, which supports the final crown — the visible part of the tooth.

Implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or even support a full arch of teeth using the All-on-4 technique. They also help preserve the jawbone and facial structure, which can deteriorate over time when teeth are missing.

Why choose implants

Advantages over bridges and dentures

Natural look and feel

Implants blend seamlessly with your existing teeth and feel completely natural when eating and speaking.

Long-lasting solution

With proper care and regular check-ups, implants can last the rest of your life — unlike dentures which need replacing every 5–10 years.

Preserves bone and facial structure

The implant stimulates the jawbone just like a natural tooth root, preventing the bone loss that occurs when teeth are missing.

No impact on neighbouring teeth

Unlike a bridge, implants are standalone — no need to grind down healthy adjacent teeth for support.

Full chewing efficiency

Restore your ability to eat what you want without restriction or discomfort.

Easy maintenance

Clean your implant just like a natural tooth — brush, floss and attend regular check-ups. No special products needed.

Suitability

Are implants right for me?

Most adults with good general health and adequate jawbone volume are suitable candidates for dental implants. A suitability consultation and CBCT scan are required before treatment can proceed. Your dentist will assess your bone density, gum health and medical history at your first appointment.

Patients with uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smokers, or those with certain medical conditions may require additional assessment. We will discuss all of this openly at your consultation.

Common Dental Implant Questions
Dental implant costs vary depending on the number of implants needed and the complexity of your case. The best way to get an accurate quote is to book a consultation with Dr Callum North, our implant dentist, who will assess your suitability and provide a full treatment plan.
Most adults in good general health are suitable for dental implants. Key factors include sufficient bone density in the jaw and good overall oral health. Dr Callum North will assess your suitability at your consultation, including a review of your bone structure and medical history.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic so you won’t feel pain during treatment. Most patients are surprised at how comfortable the process is. Some mild soreness and swelling is normal in the days following surgery, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The implant fixture itself is permanent. The crown on top typically lasts 15–25 years depending on wear. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are key to long-term success.
The full process typically takes 3 to 6 months. This includes the initial consultation, implant placement, a healing period for the implant to fuse with the bone (osseointegration), and then fitting the final crown. Dr Callum North will give you a personalised timeline at your consultation.
Some health funds with major dental cover will contribute toward implant treatment. The amount depends on your policy and annual limits. We have HICAPS on-site to process claims on the day and also offer interest-free payment plans to help spread the cost.
