Our approach

Prevention first — always

General dentistry at Dental on Flinders starts with prevention. Our goal is to keep your teeth healthy for life by catching problems early, before they require complex or costly treatment.

At every check-up we assess not just your teeth, but your gums, bite, jaw joints, and oral mucosa. We take bitewing X-rays to detect decay between teeth that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and we discuss your diet, oral hygiene habits and any areas of concern.

We are a preventative-first practice. That means we will only recommend treatment that is clinically necessary, and we will always explain your options and costs before any work begins. There are no surprise bills at Dental on Flinders.

Transparent pricing. A check-up with X-rays starts from $165. A check-up and clean starts from $320. We also offer a lifetime whitening package from $530. See our full fee guide. Check-up packages

$530Why it matters

Why regular dental check-ups matter

Most dental problems — decay, gum disease, oral cancer — are entirely preventable or easily treated when caught early. The longer they go undetected, the more complex and expensive the treatment becomes.

Catch decay early

Small cavities can often be remineralised without a filling. Larger cavities require restorations. Untreated decay eventually reaches the nerve — requiring root canal treatment or extraction.

Protect your gums

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It is largely painless in early stages — regular professional cleans and monitoring keep it under control before it causes permanent damage.

Screen for oral cancer

Every check-up includes a soft tissue examination. Oral cancer has a very high survival rate when detected early — yet most cases are diagnosed late because patients are not seeing a dentist regularly.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about general dentistry at Dental on Flinders.

It depends on your age, current oral health and oral hygiene habits. For most healthy adults, once every six to twelve months is appropriate. If you have a history of gum disease, active decay or other risk factors, more frequent visits may be recommended. Your dentist will advise a recall interval that suits your individual needs. For low-risk patients with good oral health, bitewing X-rays every two years is generally sufficient. If we are monitoring a cavity or if you have a higher decay risk, X-rays may be taken more frequently — sometimes every six months. We only take X-rays when they are clinically necessary and will always discuss the reason with you. Dental decay (caries) is caused by bacteria in the mouth that produce acid when they feed on sugars, gradually breaking down tooth enamel. Early-stage decay in enamel can often be reversed with fluoride, dietary changes and improved oral hygiene — without a filling. Once decay reaches dentine, a filling is usually required. Advanced decay that reaches the pulp may require root canal treatment or extraction. Early detection is key. Yes — we treat children from age 2 and are registered providers for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). Eligible children aged 0–17 can access up to $1,158 in free dental care, which we bulk bill in full with no out-of-pocket cost. Visit our children’s dentistry page for more information. Yes — we have HICAPS on-site for instant health fund claims. We are a preferred provider for HCF and CBHS, which means members may pay less out of pocket on most treatments. We accept all major health funds. At your first visit we will take a full medical and dental history, complete a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, take any necessary X-rays, and discuss our findings with you. If you need any treatment we will explain your options and provide a full itemised quote before anything begins. We never proceed without your approval.Book today
